Back then I decided, this is something I want to do when Emma is born. I was sure, there will be plenty of opportunities to take photos and it will be rather difficult to choose just one photo a day.

Now our litte mouse is 4 weeks old and I still have not started uploading the photos. There are plenty of photos, not all taken from me but I have them. In the beginning I wanted them to be all taken with a proper camera, but sometimes I forget the camera or would need a third and forth hand to take the photo. So, I decided, that Iphone-Photos and photos taken by Daddy will count too. I am writing those lines now to make it official and give myself a kick in the butt to start selecting one photo a day and upload them. Stay tuned, soon they will be shown here!

Chronicle of a birth

Tuesday 13th of July, 2010. Early in the morning.

After a stormy night spent awake, I told Tony it’s pretty sure that he won’t be going to the office in the morning. He prepared himself in no time: put some clothes on, got his camera, phone, took my bag and we both jumped in the car. A few minutes later we arrived at the hospital. There it was already crowded. The nurse said that the wind seems to be bringing a lot of kids today .. In anyway, we got a priority check-in.

Once the real pain started, I could hardly recall what happened until Emma was actually born.

I remember Tony helping me while I was breathing my way through all the contractions. In the same time he managed to take photos and also broadcast the birth progress live on twitter .. A couple of days later, I went through his twitter stream and I have to admit - it really made me laugh!

So, for everyone who is not following Tony on twitter, here once again the chronicle of Emma’s Birth:

Stormy and sleepless night. We’ll be heading to the Hospital soon.
13. Juli 2010 - 05:35:53

9 cm … Whatever this means …
13. Juli 2010 - 07:47:14

Had to use the lady’s toilet. #newexperiences
13. Juli 2010 - 08:07:38

Breathe, everyone!
13. Juli 2010 - 08:52:57

It’s official: we are now 3! Everybody welcome our little Emma!
13. Juli 2010 - 13:18:08

Later that day, he left the tiny mouse and me to go home and upload some photos … This time I had tears in my eyes from being so touched.

Waiting for the change

3 month ago when I was still working at my company, I was afraid what I am going to do once I am in maternity leave. I was really worried that I will be non-stop utterly bored. The last thing I could imagine was staying at home. Okay, working was not as easy in the end, with the tummy getting bigger and bigger. The desk was always in the way… and in the end of the day I was honestly tired. But not to work anymore, I somehow could not imagine. But then time passed, my leave started and quite quickly I realized that it’s not so bad after all. I went for naps in the morning, I meet people I haven’t had the time to, I answered endless numbers of emails and I started preparing for our Baby (my mum would probably say, finally). The days passed quickly and pleasantly and I did not miss to go to work, though, I do miss the people sometimes, our conversations and laughter…

As of Sunday, I am done with all the preparations for our baby. Absolutely in time and without stress we managed to buy a buggy, a bed, a changing table and all those small things you suddenly need or think, you might at least. I also did all the stuff that I usually tend to put of:
- like the accounting (usually always last minute)
- sorting in papers until the stable is about to collapse (happened!)
- or sorting out stuff you don’t use / need, but just keep because you are too lazy

And now? Now all that is done and I am left with waiting for a big change, the next adventure in our life. And I am actually enjoying it. I am curious, when it is going to happen and how it will be.

The most expensive coffee ever.

Yesterday in the afternoon we went to meet for a coffee with a friend. We felt absolutely lucky to find a good park spot immediately when we arrived. In the center of Vienna, this is considered a rather rare experience. We ended up having spent a great time at Konditorei Gerstner, we enjoyed our company, the coffee and the weather. Everything was so right, we even felt blessed! But not for long …

The whole feeling expired by the time we went back to our car. Or at least, to the spot where we left it. Turning around the corner, behind which we parked it, we saw another car standing instead. First thought, oh my good, it had been stolen, second one, it has been towed away. But why would that be? There was no sign, saying one is not allowed to park there .. or was there? Getting closer and checking around, we saw this half hidden and totally unclear:

Getting even closer, turning around to face the sign, we saw this:

We could only think of it as a joke. But, a friendly policemen from the nearest police station told us, that the sign is actually hanging there according to all necessary rules and regulations for street signs … not clear at all, but legal! We just couldn’t help the feeling of being made the biggest fools on Earth, which slowly but steadily settled inside our minds.

To make a long story short: we had to pay 199 € to get our car back. Having done this, our “afternoon coffee rendez vous” made it to the top of the most expensive coffees we’ve ever had. This easily topped the 2 Espressos we had, at Plaza San Marco in Venice, which we paid 22 € for.

Leather, chrome and bikes @ Vienna Harley Days 2010

At first, I was not sure, if I really like the idea about going to a Biker event. But actually, this was a great place to be today. We spent about 2 hours, between all this leather and chrome without getting bored shooting photos and just watching people.

Unfortunatley the forecasted rain did come in the end … luckily, by this time, we were already in Vapiano enjoying a nice cup of coffee. Others weren’t as lucky, as you can see here.

Quick weekend Escape to Attersee

Times is passing by quickly, my tummy is growing bigger and soon our life as we know it, will come to an end… or shall I better say, become quite different. What better thing to do in this case than visit our favorite places and enjoy the time only the two of us.

One of those places is Attersee. I never imagined, there is a place, I can always return to and yet not be bored at all. This surely is. No matter, what the weather is, if cloudy and rainy or sunny, we always find something to do. Even if it is nothing.

For the drive, Tony had rented a car and I must say, I really enjoyed it. I usually am not into curvy, winding roads, but I figured out, its all about the car and the right music. This time, both was a perfect match and I simply could not get enough. Every time, we have reached our final destination, I was rather disappointed, just wanted to continue… go yet another round.

The other novelty … our new camera! I know, yet another one. But now we are both able to take photos again, without waiting until the other one is ready.

And this is what we did… driving along the lake, stopping where ever we liked it, taking photos and having lunch at “Die Röhre”. A place to be recommended! We really enjoyed it there.

All in all a great weekend escape to a place we love and surely come back too!
